YouTube

Hey everyone.

I just made my first YouTube clip called 'That's Why Westminster'.

I'm sorry about a high level of the noise and the bad quality. I took an individual video in reasonably good quality but through my edit stage, all the noise appeared and it turned up with a lot of noise and stuff in the end :(

I think if I wanna do it again, I should learn more editing skills and techniques for real. So yeah the video is about why people chose Uni of Westminster. They -people in the video- are all my friends and they are telling you what factors made them wanna study at Westminster.

I hope the video helps you to think of studying at Westminster.

Pictures and Pictures and Pictures Vol. 2

Hey everyone.

I've got another pictures here.

This is my place, SU (Student Union) bar where you can get a cheap drink with your friends (1pint = £2.40). The picture was taken in the afternoon so not many people are in the frame but always after 4 or 5, the place is packed.

As you can see, you can play British pool here which cost you... around 50p? Also you can buy sandwiches and crisps at the bar so you can bring them with a drink.

This is the bar at 3pm. Now you can see it's getting busier right? 1 pint after lectures. hmmmmm. sounds AWESOME.

This is right outside of the SU bar. You can bring your food and drinks with you. It's good in summer :D

These photos below are taken in PR lectures. We had to think our PR ideas which could be used by journalists and were doing presentation after some brainstorming.

I hope these pics help you have some ideas what your will be meant to do when you start studying PR at Westminster.

Pictures and Pictures and Pictures

Hey everyone.

I've been working on so many projects and work at the same time so couldn't really find time to upload my blog, but there you go I'm back!!

I think I've talked about my uni and course a lot already, so I'd like to SHOW you how my campus is like.

This is the main entrance (reception) where you get in to the campus from. Do you guys remember me talking about the interview in the previous post? I was waiting for my tutor with many candidates at this reception with being sick lol

This place is called Gallery where you can see some art students' work. There always is an exhibition but not the day I took this photo... Bad luck! lol

This is the shop in the campus. You can buy food, drinks, cigarette and even toiletries!! lol If your from Oriental countries such as Korea, Japan and China then you will find it really fascinating as they sell some of OUR products like noodles, for instance. I come to the shop at least 3times when I'm in uni lol

This is the garden in the uni. Students have their lunch when it's a sunny day, especially in Summer. NB: Smoking is not allowed in the garden! lol

And this is the canteen!! It is a spacious place so you can always find tables to chill out with your mates. Food?.... Erm... It's okay... I wouldn't recommend you food at the canteen... lol If you go downstairs, then you will see my home, Student Union Bar where you can get cheap drinks!! lol I forgot to take a picture of it so next time!!

So yeah these are pretty much describing the campus visually. I am working on some video projects also so hopefully I can upload here soon.

Friends and Lectures and Internship

Hey everyone.

My fresher uni life at University of Westminster is getting over. Only 1 week and my Chinese exam left. I just can't believe that all my PR friends were totally strangers a year ago. I feel like I've known them for AGES.

So today I had lectures for ALL DAY - (I hate Thursday!! lol). What we did was, setting up a PR event as the last assignment for one of modules called Understanding PR. We were divided into some groups and given different topics. We basically have to think how to promote some organisations/people in a PR sense and present it next week. I'm not really good at group work (although PR requires a lot of group work... oh well lol), but my group had some genius ideas - thanks to Ann, Amelia and Ainur for suggesting loads of ideas!! I'm gonna meet up people in my group next week again to do a bit more brainstorming.

Also another PR module called Digital PR, we had a guest lecturer, Sam Conniff from Livity PR. His talk was incredibly fun and enjoyable. Some of coursemates were already thinking of doing internship at his company so they got his contact details and stuff after the lecture. Oh yeah and I'm not sure if I've mentioned before or not, but we had a guest lecturer from one of PR agencies in London, Don't Panic for Digital PR other day and my coursemates, Beatrice and Hana (there is a link to her website on the right side) are now working for them (or doing internship? I'm not sure if they are paid or not). I mean, this is great, isn't it? We have a lot of guest lecturers and PR students can actually get work experience and jobs from them!! CONNECTIONS people. A sociologist said "It is sometimes important 'who' you know more than 'what' you know" (sorry I don't remember who said that but I'm sure I've learned it from A-level Sociology lol) and I strongly believe that is so true!!

So yeah that's basically what happened today in the uni. Oh and 2 more SURPRISING things happened to me.

1. My lecturer/tutor, Simon read my previous post about the interview here!! I shoulda written more about his AWESOMENESS!! LOL
2. My another lecturer, Trish postponed our deadline!! AWESOME!! LOL

So yeah, end of the year is always busy. I still need to work on some essays and stuff. It's quite depressing but uni is getting over and summer is coming soon! So I will try my BEST in 2010 to complete all my work soonish!!

Choice and Interview and Sick

Hey everyone.

It is just so depressing if you think Easter is getting over in 2 days, isn't it? I am waiting for the invention of the time-machine at the moment so that I can repeat it again and do NOT need to go back to my work LOL Oh well. So as I said before, I'm gonna talk about a little bit more about how I chose to study PR at University of Westminster and my interview.

I don't need to explain a lot about my choice actually. I gained lots of interests in seeking for campaigns in the world, like in the UK, the USA and Japan through my A-level Media Studies class. One of examples is Why So Serious? campaign from a film, Dark Knight. It inspired me a lot to study PR/marketing/advertising (although they are different, I thought all of them were same at the time lol). So I decided to study either one of the subjects in LONDON - 'cause I wanted to study in London LOL

Then I had my best mate Kris, he was doing PR at this uni while I was doing A-level at Bellerbys College in Cambridge. One day, he rang me telling about his uni life. My first impression was like, 'Wow!! Seriously?!' He told me that his lectures were really practical; the curriculum was well organised; there was no exam; most of his coursemates were FEMALE and; holidays were really long etc... Yep, when I heard all about it, I instantly decided to study at University of Westminster LOL

However, life was NOT as easy as all that. In order to study PR at this uni, I had to meet criteria which were;

  • Meet the requirement - more than 3Bs for A-level
  • Interview
...yeah... How depressing are they?! Ok, 3Bs. That's ok. But interview?! I was ridiculously nervous when I heard 'the I word' 'cause my English was not really good so I was very worried.

When the morning of the judgement day came, I felt so sick. I was very very very nervous. I got to the uni and had to wait for somebody taking us to a room for the interview. I felt so sick. I was waiting with people for like 15mins-ish, then my current tutor Simon Goldsworthy took us to the room. It was a group interview with 5-6 people. I was the only 1 guy and was also the only international student. I felt sick. He explained us about the course and how he would carry out the interview. I felt so sick. I sat down in front of him, then I realised that was the biggest mistake in my life. When the interview started, he ASKED ME FIRST EVERY SINGLE QUESTION! So I had NO TIME to think of what I was gonna say to the questions. I felt very sick. The questions were like how I think and take PR-wise actions at some situations. When it was over, I reckoned my tutors (Simon Goldsworthy and Trish Evans) were very nice people to talk. Oh and I had very nice sushi in London after the interview hahaha lol

Then I successfully (?) accomplished the missions so now I'm studying PR at University of Westminster. I hope these information would help you to be my junior! :)
